Chocolate Cinnamon Soufflé
Soufflé is a light and airy dessert or appetizer based on egg whites, which was invented in the early 18th century. The word “soufflé” comes from the French word “souffler,” meaning to puff up or rise. Those who love puffy delicacies know that this word holds a lot of deliciousness in itself! Today, February 28th, is World Chocolate Soufflé Day. A dessert that took about 100 years to develop into its current form and is considered one of the most popular desserts in the world.
Ingredients:
60 grams of chocolate
2 large egg whites
2 large egg yolks
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
Mix flour, salt, cocoa powder, and half of the sugar together in a saucepan. Then add milk and whisk until well combined. Place this mixture over heat and allow it to start boiling. When the ingredients have cooked for about 3 minutes and thickened slightly, chop the chocolate and add it to the mixture, then mix thoroughly.
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool. Once cooled, add the egg yolks and whisk together.
Now, beat the egg whites with vanilla and the remaining sugar using an electric mixer until stiff peaks form and the mixture turns white. Add this mixture to the previous mixture and gently fold until combined.
Grease the soufflé molds with oil and sprinkle them with some sugar. Then, rotate them to remove any excess sugar. Now, pour the batter into the molds and bake for about 15 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius in the oven.
Your Chocolate Cinnamon Soufflé is ready! If you like, you can sprinkle some powdered sugar on top at the end.
Enjoy your meal!
