The role of nuts in the beauty industry
Nuts are so useful that they have many uses in the beauty industry and the production of skin products. You must have seen all kinds of scrubs, lotions, shampoos, skin and hair oils, etc. that are made from nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, or pistachios.
In the past, when such a variety of cosmetic products and different qualities were not available like today, people used Kohl for makeup like an eyeliner or eyebrow pencil. It is interesting to know that kohl was made from a combination of burnt nuts and some kind of animal fat. Almonds, hazelnuts or walnuts were burned on a direct flame and then powdered. They could use one type of nuts or combine all three types. Still, kohl is very popular among fans of natural products.
In the past, there was a type of kohl called Chahar Qalam. It was made from the combination of burnt hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts and a kind of fat, which they used to make up the eyes and eyebrows and believed to have healing properties.
You can make a homemade scrub with almonds. Use a combination of ground almonds and almond oil, or a combination of ground almonds and honey as a natural scrub. Crushed almonds play the role of tiny scrub grains, and oil or honey make almonds move more easily on the skin.
Our advice is that if you want to use natural products at home, a: consult your doctor and measure your skin type and possible allergies; and b: don’t forget that you should use high quality and raw nuts for your skin!
